Options Trading Journal Template

A simple journal for paper trades. Write the plan before you place the trade, then record what happened and what you learned.

What each entry covers

Plan: why this example, strike and expiration reasoning, what would make you exit
Entry: date, price, premium, contracts, paper or live
Exit: date, how it closed (expired, assigned, bought back), result
Lessons: did you follow the plan? What would you do differently?

Sample entry (made-up ticker EXMPL)

Plan	Practice a covered call on 100 paper shares of EXMPL at $50. Strike $52.50, 30 days, because I'd be fine selling at $52.50. Exit: buy back if the premium drops 75%.
Entry	Paper. Sold 1 call, $1.20 premium.
Exit	Bought back at $0.30 after 18 days.
Lessons	Followed the exit rule. Next time, check the earnings date before entering.
